BIOGRAPHY
Jenny Mueller, CYT, has been studying yoga for over eleven years and teaching for ten years. She earned her certification in a 1,000-hour, Iyengar-based program through the Southern Institute for Yoga Instructors in Nashville, TN. Although her training has been primarily in the Iyengar tradition with its focus on alignment and strong practice of asana (postures), she has recently begun studying Insight Yoga, a combination of Yin and Vinyasan Yoga and meditation, with Sarah Powers.
Jenny has been practicing vipassana (insight) meditation regularly for the past three years and has recently graduated from Spirit Rock Meditation Center's Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training.
Jenny considers yoga practice and teaching to be the primary spiritual exercises that nourish and support the larger spiritual practice of her life. She has found yoga and meditation to be essential to her own physical, psychological, and emotional maturity and well-being, as well as the foundation of her spiritual life journey.
Jenny's classes incorporate
- strong asana (postures) to create strength and flexibility in the body and mind
- yin postures to stimulate and circulate energy through the chakras and meridians of the body
- restorative asana to nourish the body and mind in rest and refresh the nervous system
- pranayama (breath work) to rejuvenate energy and cultivate focus
- seated meditation to foster concentration, mindfulness, and insight
- poetry for inspiration and sustenance in the practice
Her classes are creative, non-competitive, empowering, and restorative. She teaches in Sacramento,
Northern California and in Cincinnati, Ohio.
